Honoring the Dedication of the Air Traffic Control Team at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and Airports Across Alaska

Anchorage, AK – During the recent government shutdown, the air traffic control team at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, and at airports across Alaska, continue to demonstrate exceptional professionalism, dedication, and service to our state and nation.

Despite the uncertainty and challenges brought on by the shutdown, these men and women remain steadfast in their mission to keep Alaska’s skies safe and its connections to the world open.

“Even during a government shutdown, the men and women guiding our skies at airports across the state have shown what true public service looks like. Their steady hands and professionalism keep Alaska open, connected, and safe,” said Senate President Gary Stevens.

The tireless efforts of Alaska’s air traffic controllers ensure that travelers, businesses, and families can continue to rely on one of the most critical transportation hubs in North America. In a state where aviation serves as a lifeline for many rural communities, their commitment keeps that lifeline strong.

The people of Alaska owe a deep debt of gratitude to these professionals for their resilience, skill, and unwavering devotion under difficult circumstances.

“The air traffic controllers in our great State continue to embody the strength and resilience of Alaska. Through every challenge, they keep our skies moving and our communities connected to the world,” said Senate Transportation Committee Chair Jesse Bjorkman.

On behalf of the State of Alaska, we commend the air traffic control team at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, and their colleagues across the state, for their exceptional service and continued dedication to ensuring that Alaska remains connected, safe, and welcoming to all.
