I appreciate Senator Sullivan’s hard work to help get the Willow project across the finish line. When he spoke to the Legislature, he asked for a resolution in favor of Willow. I fully support this project. Instead of importing foreign oil, we need to produce more energy in Alaska. We must get the Willow project across the finish line and bring more of Alaska’s oil to market and provide jobs and opportunity for Alaskans.

Public safety and improving Trooper response times is a concern on the Kenai. In the State Affairs Committee, I asked the Public Safety Commissioner how the Legislature can help the Department address this problem. The answer is that we need to attract and retain more troopers. We must prioritize public safety.

I respect and appreciate our fire chiefs on the Kenai Peninsula. They work hard to protect our lives and property, and to support the men and women under their leadership. I'm grateful for their efforts and was glad to meet with them while they were in the Capitol.

It was great to have KPBSD School Board Members Tim Daugharty and Beverly Romanin come to my office with Superintendent Clayton Holland to discuss improving educational outcomes and opportunities for Kenai Peninsula students.
