It’s important that as a state we live within our means. Last week the Senate passed a balanced budget. The budget includes a $1360 PFD and a $222 energy relief payment for all residents. This balanced budget also funds Constitutional mandates. It includes a onetime $680 increase to the education funding formula, additional investment in snow plowing, and leaves funds to improve infrastructure and tackle some much needed deferred maintenance.

I am thankful that my bill to honor those who have lost their lives in service to our country and communities passed the Senate unanimously today. SB 174 would establish in statute the Honor and Remember and Honor and Sacrifice Flags and allow them to be flown at public buildings. There would be no cost to the implementation of this bill, as it does not require that the flags be flown.

It was a great pleasure to see the AMAZING production of Mama Mia put on by the Nikiski Bulldog Theater when I was home last weekend. I'm always impressed by the talent we have here on the Kenai Peninsula!

It’s awesome to see that my bill, SB 87, Local Lumber Grading is being put into practice!!

If you would like to become a certified lumber grader, visit the website and sign up for a course!

Congratulations to my friend and colleague Jennifer Hornung on being named a finalist for Alaska Teacher of the Year by the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development!
