Last week, House Finance Subcommittees finished their work and forwarded their recommendations to the full House Finance Committee. In the coming weeks, Alaskans will have an opportunity to give public testimony on the operating budget.

Voting Reminders
Ballots must be returned via mail, dropped in a ballot drop box, or returned by fax/email

By Mail: Postmarked by April 6 and received by April 16 at noon. If mailing the day before (April 5), or on Election Day, ask a postal official to hand-cancel/hand-stamp the envelope with a postmark.

By Drop Box: Secure drop boxes are open for voters to return their ballot at any time before 8:00 PM on April 6.

Via Email or Fax: Must be received by Municipality of Anchorage by April 6 at 8:00 PM.
If you have any questions about the upcoming Anchorage election, or if you have not yet received your ballot, you can call 907-343-VOTE (8683) or head to muni.org/elections.

Covid-19 mitigation measures have us all missing visits to our Juneau offices from constituents, testifiers, and students learning about the process - but know we are still here for you! See below for ways to stay engaged:

Testify: Opportunities to testify will increase as we approach the 90th day of session on April 18. Check http://akleg.gov/pages/testify.php for an up-to-date public testimony list.

Message or Call Your Local LIO: A team of Legislative Information and Legislative Affairs staff are online, during business hours, to answer your questions! Use our live legislative information chat feature on the akleg.gov homepage. For help navigating Alaska's legislative process, testifying, learning more about particular legislation, general questions, researching, etc. contact your regional Legislative Information Office at http://akleg.gov/lios.php.

Work Session No. 2: American Relief Plan Funding and Town Hall
The Assembly highly encourages public participation and provides opportunities to do so between 8:00 - 9:30 PM by:
1) In-Person: There is no sign-up list for in-person comments– the Chair will invite the public to speak on a first-come basis at the Assembly Chambers located at the Loussac Library, 3600 Denali, Room 108.
2) Phone: Anyone wishing to provide feedback over the phone during the meeting should email Merissa.pimenta@anchorageak.gov with their first and last name by 2:00 PM April 9.
3) Social Media: Stay tuned on our Facebook Event (https://fb.me/e/S85PxxHv) for the Work Session as we will share the YouTube live-stream link on this platform at 5:00 PM and will monitor public feedback throughout the meeting.
When: Friday, April 9 from 5:00 – 9:30 PM
5:00 – 8:00 PM: Work session to continue the discussion to determine the allocation of remainder of funds.
8:00 – 9:30 PM: Town Hall-style discussion.
