Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Happy Thanksgiving! As we congregate with friends, family, and good food tomorrow, let’s remind one another of all we have to be thankful for. May we also be mindful of those in need and take time to share a smile and lend a helping hand. I hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday weekend!

Anchorage Pacific Air-to-Sea Initiative
|
|
We have been hearing about the global impact of the slow down of the supply chain and we have seen its effect in our community. The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation have proposed a solution that starts at the Anchorage airport. The Anchorage Pacific Air-to-Sea initiative is an air charter flight from Asia to Anchorage, cargo loading in Anchorage to an ocean vessel, ocean transport to Seattle/Tacoma, and transloading in Seattle/Tacoma to truck for final delivery. Click here to read the analysis, including the estimated cost savings and shortened delivery times associated with the initiative.
Ocean transport has become increasingly expensive and the delivery times are double their standard time. Air cargo is a desirable option in the face of these challenges. Advocates emphasize the unique location and cargo transfer rights that Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport possesses. In the short term, optimizing this initiative will provide relief to the slowed supply chain. In the long-term context, the Anchorage Pacific Air-to-Sea initiative may be an important economic opportunity for Alaska-based companies. Click here to read the Anchorage Daily News coverage of this story.
This opportunity is welcomed by cargo owners and freight forwarders who are currently navigating the system delays. We will continue to support sensible solutions to the global issues we face, and look forward to supporting the Anchorage Pacific Air-to-Sea initiative implementation.

ADOT Survey on Infrastructure Funding
|
|
Alaska’s transportation and utility network is largely underdeveloped, from water lines to broadband and from docks to airports, expansion of Alaska’s infrastructure is necessary and prudent. Responsible resource development is dependent upon reasonable access to the existing transportation infrastructure.
The bipartisan infrastructure bill signed into law by President Biden on Monday, November 15 is expected to have a tremendous impact on Alaska. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT) is urging Alaskans to fill out a survey expressing their preferences for how we will spend money in the “Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.”
Infrastructure funding impacts us all, so take a minute to make your voice heard by clicking below.
