Anchorage, AK – In May, the Alaska State Legislature overrode a gubernatorial veto to ensure that House Bill 57 would become law. The bill included a $700 increase to base student funding and authorized a multi-year Task Force on Education Funding.

After Session Year One 34th Legislature
With the first session of the 34th Alaska State Legislature finished, it is time for the office to head back home to Fairbanks for the interim until we are called back to Juneau next January. This is a time for the office to regroup from the fast pace of Juneau, strategize our next moves for the second year of the session and interact with our constituency. Friends & Neighbors in District L — 🎉 Yay! We did it! 🪩 We adjourned the first session of the 34th Legislature on the afternoon of May 20th, Legislative Day 120. With the price of oil on the decline and constant changes at the federal level, it was a year full of difficult budget decisions and very little money.
