Dear Friends and Neighbors,   The regular session that began in January adjourned on May 20. However, the governor called the legislature into a Special Session the next day to consider legislation to help build a gasline. Read on for more highlights.

With less than two weeks left of the regular session, the House and Senate are moving bills and budgets swiftly. It has been helpful to hear from many of you directly about bills of interest to you. As the legislature approaches its final month, bills and budgets are moving full steam ahead. Here’s a quick update on what’s going on with some legislation I’ve introduced, the budget process, and the Senate Resources Committee, which is meeting daily.

While the legislative session is always a busy time, this week was especially productive in the Senate. This is a quick recap on business moving through the legislature.

Dear Friends and Neighbors, I hope to see you this Saturday, February 7, 2:00 PM at STREAM Academy (1905 Twining Drive, formerly Nunaka Valley Elementary) for a townhall with fellow Eastsiders Rep. Eischeid and Rep. Mears.

On Tuesday, my colleagues and I convened the 2nd session of the 34th Legislature in Juneau. This year, the legislature is focusing on the budget, natural gas pipeline, election reform, and education. Governor Dunleavy’s proposed budget has a $1.8 billion dollar deficit, and my colleagues and I are looking at ways to close that gap and balance
