The 33rd Alaska State Legislature has adjourned “sine die.” The two-year Legislature concluded with the passage of several bills that will benefit Alaskans, a capital budget that includes $98.2 million for the Kenai Peninsula, and a $1,655 dividend this year with the possibility of increased energy relief check next fall.

It’s important that as a state we live within our means. Last week the Senate passed a balanced budget. The budget includes a $1360 PFD and a $222 energy relief payment for all residents.

After passing the legislature 59-1, I’m thankful that my bill Senate Bill 93 was signed into law last week! This bill increases the limits on payouts for commercial fishing injuries and better ensures fishing crew members’ medical costs are covered.

The meeting is at the Kenai Borough Assembly Chambers at 144 North Binkley Street in Soldotna from noon to 3 pm.
