Dear Friends, I hope you’ve been soaking up the last rays of summer sunshine! It’s hard to believe that the lazy days of summer are winding down. As the leaves begin to hint at their autumnal transformation, we’re reminded that the new school year is quickly approaching.

I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying your summer! The summer solstice was just under two weeks ago now, on June 21st, marking the longest day of the year across much of the Northern Hemisphere. Here in Alaska, the summer solstice takes on even more significance as it means the sun now sets

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying summer. It’s hard to believe another legislative session has come to a close. I want to take a moment to reflect on the past few months in session with a focus on the interim.

The 33rd Alaska State Legislature will soon be coming to an end, marking the close of this year’s 121-day legislative session. Over the past several months, legislators worked diligently to pass legislation on a variety of important issues affecting Alaskans such as the Permanent Fund, the State budget, and infrastructure funding. 

I will host a virtual constituent meeting this Thursday, April 18th at 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

We are now over halfway through the Legislative Session. Lawmakers have been busy considering numerous bills on issues to include the budget, education, and infrastructure. There is still much work to be done in the remaining weeks!  

March is here and spring is that much closer! After a long winter, we will begin to welcome the signs of new growth, longer days, and warmer weather. Daffodils and tulips will soon begin emerging from the ground to spread their cheerful colors across our community. Birds are returning from their southern migrations and their

February marks Black History Month, a celebration of Black achievements, culture, and history that has been observed annually in the United States since 1926. What began as “Negro History Week” proposed by noted historian Carter G. Woodson has grown into a month-long observance highlighting the many important contributions Black Americans have made to our society. 

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season spent with family and friends. As we begin 2024, I am filled with optimism and hope for what we can accomplish together during the 2nd half of the 33rd Legislature which begins on January 16th.

The Alaska Legislative Session is quickly approaching! The session is set to begin on January 16th in Juneau. With the start of the session a little less than two months away, I am gearing up for what I expect to be a busy session addressing the state’s budget and policy priorities.
